Frank Rampolla: Drawings from the Personal Sketchbooks brings together a remarkable group of drawings made by Frank Rampolla during the final decade of his life. Preserved by his family for more than fifty years, the sketchbooks contain studies, fragments, observations, and fully resolved works that offer a direct look at the ideas, forms, and recurring figures that occupied him throughout his career.
Originally assembled by his son, Renato “Ron” Rampolla, and Ron’s wife, Heather, the book also includes recollections and critical writing by artists, students, colleagues, and critics who knew Rampolla and his work. This revised edition preserves the character of the original publication while correcting and refining the text and presentation, making these rarely seen drawings available to a new audience.
